Creamy "Ranch" dressing (dairy, gluten and egg free)

Many of the well-known dressings from the supermarket contain unhealthy ingredients such as added sugar, sweeteners, vegetable oils and stabilisers (E numbers). 

Here is a healthy alternative which is delicious and can be whipped up in 5 minutes with a blender or food processor.


Serves 8

1 ripe avocado, sliced
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
Juice from half a lemon or lime
1 dessertspoon of apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 'Herbamare" seasoning (A.Vogel)
½ teaspoon dried dill (or dried mixed herbs)
1 dessertspoon finely chopped fresh or dried parsley
Pinch pink Himalayan salt or sea salt
Pinch cayenne pepper
½ cup organic full fat natural yogurt (or Co-Yo coconut yogurt for dairy-free)


1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for about 2 minutes or until desired consistency.
2. Add a little water or lemon juice if you prefer a less “creamy” consistency.
3. Use immediately or store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

You get a whammy of good fats - particularly heart-healthy monounsaturated fat - and fibre, which will help keep you feeling fuller for longer and blood sugar levels steady.

Avocados are also an excellent source of potassium (containing more per weight than bananas).  In addition, avocados are rich in vitamin K, vitamin B9, vitamin B6, vitamin B5, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

This can be used with salads or in place of mayo in burgers etc.
